observation on Colossians 2:18-23 by iris

Who- Paul, Christ, angels

What-Grow with a growth which is from God

Comparison- between growth of the body, and growth of the Spirit

Repeated words-fleshly(2), body(2), world(2)

Atmosphere-teaching

Terms-

Fleshly-carnal, denotes the sinful element in man's nature

Defrauding-with reference to the truth, with the suggestion of being retributively robbed of the truth

Self-abasement-

   Self-expresses distinction, exclusion

Abasement-to make low, bringing to the ground, humbled,  humiliated

Visions-that which is seen, and appearance, a coming into view

Note- Paul refers to the heresies being taught as having the appearance of wisdom.  I’m just thinking of the many things, and people, in the world today that have the appearance of wisdom.  That is the devil’s tactic.

Lies mixed with a little truth!
